The 2022 America's Farmers Market Celebration is a joint celebration between American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition to honor and showcase "the essential markets across the nation making a difference for farmers, ranchers, and communities."
From June 20, 2022, to September 19, 2022, supporters can vote for their favorite market, once per email address, to help them earn the title of a top market in their state and region as well as help them compete for the overall "People's Choice" winner as the top-endorsed market. in the country. Top markets have the opportunity to win a cash prize that can be used towards market needs to help expand the market's reach and impact.
You may have seen us use a hashtag over the last year, #FarmersMarketsAreEssential which was a campaign used for the 2021 America's Farmers Market Celebration. The goal of this campaign was to help our communities recognize the essential nature of Farmers Markets. While grocery stores were closed and supplies at times low, Farmers Markets were there for their communities. Local Farms that participate in the Madison Farmers Markets helped community members have a safe and consistent way to obtain local and fresh products such as meats, eggs, baked goods, and more.
This year's social media campaign for the 2022 America's Farmers Market Celebration is #FarmersMarketsDontJustHappen, and they don't. Week after week we are so grateful for the volunteers who give their time to help us set up our market, staff our Information Booth, assist with the clean-up of the market, help us to distribute marketing information, and more! Additionally, our Farmers Market Committee is made of volunteers from the community and our vendor group who aid us in helping to grow the market to better serve our community.
Beyond our volunteers, Farmers Markets don't just happen without amazing vendors and customers who show up week after week to shop from our producer-only vendors, listen to our local Market Musicians, and spend time with fellow community members. The time, effort, and energy that we put into putting together a market each week is our way of giving back to our community.
