Lanthier Winery was selected to provide the Regatta 75th Anniversary Commemorative Wine at the VIP tent and other event locations, during the 2025 Regatta, July 4-6, in Madison, Ind. Tami Hagemier, CEO of Lanthier Winery, is very committed to support for the Madison Regatta, spite of the ongoing challenges of recovery from the massive spring flood. Lanthier Winery is also supporting the Roostertail Music Festival, located at Bicentennial Park on Madison’s riverfront.

“Best of Class” award and two double golds were awarded to Lanthier Winery at two International Wine Competitions in 2024. “I’m so proud of our Cellar Master, Chris Lanthier.” This level of recognition is rarely achieved by a small winery. This is exciting for Madison and is great recognition of small wineries,” Hagemier said. The Winery was named a top 5 traveler favorite winery in Indiana by Trip Advisor, a top 10 winery destination by Indiana State Tourism and a “Top 20 Free Things to Do in Indiana.” “We are Madison’s top privately owned tourist destination and are recognized as a state attraction along with Lanier Mansion and Clifty Falls State Park,” she noted.

Hagemier is looking forward to new expansion opportunities for Lanthier Winery. A new Tasting Room will be located on Main Street and a small bakery/café/bistro will be added to the main Tasting Room on Mill Street. She has been encouraged by support from current Main Street merchants. The Main Street location has not yet been finalized. Hagemier and the staff of Lanthier Winery already support Main Street local businesses by curating lists of their personal favorites to share with visitors.

A “special person” is currently working on the plans for the bistro. Right now, Hagemier is hoping to be able to open later this summer. However, the opening may get pushed back depending on the flood recovery pace. It has been really hard work due to water and mud covering all of the gardens and filling the Tasting Room as high as 4.5 feet deep. Counters and wine racks in main Tasting Room have already been replaced following the removal of water/mud damaged furnishings. The previous major flood in 1997 took 6 months to fully clear the gardens and remediate all of the water and mud damage from 8.5’ of water inside. The high-water mark is still visible above a doorway.

Hagemier found a way to salvage all of the beautiful tulips in full bloom right before the flood overwhelmed the gardens. She posted an invitation on Facebook for residents to come quickly to Lanthier Winery to pick tulips. As a result, thousands of tulips were shared across the community, until every tulip had been picked.

Looking back at the past few months, Hagemier said, “We had so much local support and so many volunteers, before and after the flood. Huge support! We are so grateful for Madison and the kindness of the community.”
