End of Summer Wrap Up
Sadly, Music in the Park is over for the summer, but we are already planning for the 2021 concert series! This year, we successfully held 3 concerts in July, August, and September. Due to COVID-19, we had to cancel our first event in June, but we were able to change our location to Bicentennial Park for the remaining concerts and still organize them. Thank you to our Jefferson County Health Department for working with us on our health and safety plan. Another thank you to our vendors ( House of Brisket & Kona Ice) our bands & musicians, and our audience for helping us maintain a fun and safe event! Normally, Music in the Park is held at Broadway Fountain. Again, due to COVID-19 we moved this event to Bicentennial Park (right on Vaughn Drive at the riverfront) to provide more room for social distancing. We received wonderful feedback about this location. We had such wonderful feedback, along with access to public restrooms and a parking lot and designated street (Central Ave.) for golf carts. Stay tuned to learn if we keep Music in the Park at Bicentennial for 2021!
Thank you to our 2020 Event Sponsors: Title sponsors - Tony Greco Memorial Fund for the Arts of the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson County and German American Bank. Silver sponsors - Psi Lota Xi and Ribberfest. Thank you to Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe for donating popcorn to all 3 events and to the City of Madison for blocking the streets as well as providing electrical hook ups. Thank you SEIRD and Sara Hare for providing recycling and pick up at MIP. A special thank you to all of our volunteers!
Falll in Love with Main Street!
And then it was Fall! 2020 has moved so quickly, but slowly at the same time? Either way, Fall is here and downtown Madison is waiting for you. The pear trees along Main Street will be turning within the next week or so, businesses have their fall and Halloween décor available, and the City of Madison has decorated the street posts with orange lights and festive corn stalks. It is a wonderful site to see. Be sure to stop downtown and take an early morning walk to see the glow of the lights and watch the sun rise on the Ohio. Don't forget to grab coffee from the one of 3 coffee shops before! This Halloween there is tons to do in downtown Madison! You can enjoy the following events safely in Madison by maintaining social distance, wearing a mask, and enjoying outside! Madison Main Street is organizing a Scarecrow Display Contest. Businesses & residents in downtown Madison can participate and be up to win a prize! Register by October 21st by calling or emailing. Other events downtown include the City of Madison organizing a Halloween Festival on Oct. 31st from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with a petting zoo, costume contests for people and pets, games, and more! Looking Forward to 2021
Can you believe it is already that time of the year, to be preparing for the next year?! MMSP is excited to be planning for 2021, but we are still assessing each event according to the current stage of the Back on Track plan ordered by Governor Holcomb. Before we move too far ahead into planning for 2021, we are preparing for the end of 2020! Soon, our Friends of Madison Main Street Program annual mailer will be in your mailbox! If you would like to make a donation to our organization and be an investor in our mission, contact us! The end of the year can always be a blur, so be sure to take your time and slow down and enjoy downtown Madison by getting your Holiday shopping wrapped up on November 13th at the Holiday Open House! Businesses will be open late and be ready for you to shop all weekend! After Holiday Open House, is Small Business Saturday on November 28. Take a break from your family visiting and the turkey and support local businesses! This year, SuperATV will be sponsoring canvas bags to be given out to shoppers and supporting our mission. This is your time to support local businesses and take advantage shopping local in a COVID-19 world. Stay safe and stay local. Be sure to thank a SuperATV employee the next time you see them. Follow our Facebook & Instagram pages to learn more about the details about these events.
